4. General information for visitors
  • Dhikala forest rest house and Gairal forest rest house are the only two forest rest houses in dhikala zone which offers canteen serving buffet meals. All the other forest rest houses have kitchen facility attached and guest have to bring their raw ration which can be cooked in the kitchen.
  • It is not allowed to walk inside the national park other than the fenced area of the campus of your rest house.
  • Even if visitor is staying in forest rest house, safaris will happen only as per the scheduled timings of safari, which are decided by forest department and the timings of safari change from one season to other.
  • It is not allowed to take private vehicle inside Corbett national park and visitors can only take green colored gypsies registered with forest department for safari and stay. The vehicle will stay with the tourists for the complete duration of its stay inside corbett national park.
  • Smoking and drinking inside corbett national park is an offense.
  • It is mandatory to have guides during safaris in dhikala zone. The guides are available at most of the forest rest houses inside dhikala zones.
  • Accommodation inside the national park is basic with no TVs, Acs and most of the rest houses don’t have electiricty supply either. Anyone plannning to stay inside the national park should have expectations only in terms of natural beauty and not for luxury by any means. In case one can not compromise on luxuries, there are luxurious private resorts available on the periphery of the national park.
  • All the meals inside national park are vegetarian. It is not allowed to carry non veg inside the national park.
  • Littering inside the national park is not allowed and tourists are requested to carry litter bags available at dhangarhi gate of dhikala zone and carry back all the litter.
5. Dhikala Forest Lodge

Jim Corbett National Park is the only national park in India that offers overnight accommodation in the jungle. Dhikala Forest Lodge is a historical structure built hundreds of years ago by the British. This old motor station is very popular with tourists. It offers cozy accommodation with breathtaking views of the flora and fauna. It is not very luxurious, but the experience of staying in the middle of the jungle is simply unforgettable. Tourism inside the park is operated and managed by the forest department. Various types of accommodation are available at Dhikala Forest Lodge. In addition to forest rest stops, lodges and cabins, Annexe Dhikala also has 24 bunks in log cabins.

6. Dhikala Booking Procedure

Tourists Name, Age, Gender, Identity Proof (Passport Number, PAN Number, Voter ID, Adhaar Number) must be provided along with the confirmation amount for further booking process. Dormitory/room availability will be confirmed 90 days prior to actual arrival date. We are only local tour operators and we are improving the booking procedure for forest rest/private resorts and hotels. Please note that we are not responsible for the quality of service of the forest roadhouse operated by the forest department. A stay at one of the main forest lodges (Dhikala) in Jim Corbett National Park brings the ultimate form of wildlife tourism and the peaceful moments are unforgettable.

About Permits & Reservation?

Ans. Permits are necessary for entering Corbett Tiger Reserve. For day visits, permits can be booked online prior to one month of the date of arrival. However permits for night halts are issued at the CTR Reception Office at Ramnagar for which visitors have to file an application as early as they can by sending fax to the reception office or by hand through any local correspondent. Day visits to Dhikala Tourism zone are not permitted except in conducted safari organized by Corbett Tiger Reserve. Only visitors who have prior accommodation reserved can enter Dhikala Zone.

Accommodation

For night halts three tourist complexes located at Dhikala, Gairal and Bijrani offer a choice of accommodation type. Dhikala has the maximum bed capacity including a dormitory. Basic lodging is available for tourists at other Forest Rest Houses at Malani, Sultan, Gairal, Sarpduli, Khinanauli, Kanda and Jhirna. Visitors can also stay at the Forest Rest Houses at Lohachaur, Rathuadhab, Halduparao, Mundiapani, Morghatti, Sendhikhal and Dhela. More on Forest Rest Houses of Corbett
Prior reservation for accommodation can be made by remitting the necessary tariffs in advance. Once accommodation is reserved permits can be collected from Ramnagar Reception Office before entering the Park.
